Why Are Invisalign Braces Better Than Traditional Braces?

One of the reasons a lot of children and even adults hate the idea of getting braces is that they ruin their smile.  No one wants to have a mouth full of metal distracting people from their natural smile.  Thanks to the new, modern take on braces—the Invisalign braces—you no longer have to worry about all that metal.  Instead, these braces are almost completely invisible, and they’re very comfortable because you can actually remove them.

Invisalign braces work by giving the patient a set of nearly invisible aligners that they wear for about two weeks before swapping out for another set.  These aligners slowly shift your teeth back into a more natural position.  Each set of Invisalign braces are made specifically for your teeth.  They can be used to correct every type of tooth issues, including spacing, crowding, overbite, underbite, and crossbite.

One great fact about Invisalign is that they can be removed while eating, brushing your teeth, and other necessities.  This means that you can eat anything you want, which you can’t do if you have traditional metal braces.  You can also brush and floss your teeth as you normally would.  Brushing and flossing are a little more difficult with metal braces, and the teeth don’t always get as clean.  Since that’s not an issue with Invisalign, your teeth are actually healthier and whiter.

While the fact that Invisalign braces are much more difficult to see than traditional metal braces is their main advantage, there are a few other reasons why a patient who needs braces might want to go with Invisalign.    The fact that they are removable means that they’re much more comfortable than metal braces.  You don’t have to worry about food getting stuck in them.  If something does, you simply take out the aligner and clean it.

Many people assume that Invisalign braces are going to be more expensive than traditional metal braces since they have to be custom made.  However, the average cost is actually about the same.  You may even get benefits such as complimentary teeth whitening after you finish your treatment.

In addition to adults using Invisalign, there’s also an option for teens.  Many teens are not very excited to hear the word “braces,” but learning that they can have Invisalign braces and take advantage of the perks that come with them helps them accept wearing braces.
