A note about the safety of our practices…
We keenly recognize our shared obligation and duty to minimize the spread of COVID-19 and to protect the health and wellbeing of our patients, staff and the broader community.
We strongly believe that with sufficient protective measures in place, a dental practice represents a safe and low-risk environment for our patients
We have attached a link to the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO) guidelines for dental emergencies. We recommend that you read it to gain a better understanding of the college perspective.
https://www.rcdso.org/en-ca/rcdso-members/dispatch-magazine/articles/5288
The College strongly recommends all non-essential and elective dental services be suspended immediately. Emergency treatment should continue.
As you may already know, supplies are very limited. We are using a triage system of screening
- All emergency cases are being triaged by telephone first by taking a verbal history of the patient’s condition and providing appropriate pharmacotherapy ( prescriptions ) if needed.
- In those few cases where telephone management is insufficient, clinical assessment may be necessary provided appropriate safety precautions and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is in place pending availability.
A “true emergency situation” includes:
- oral-facial trauma
- significant infection
- prolonged bleeding or pain which cannot be managed by over-the-counter medications.
For our healthcare providers, it their duty to provide patients with the care they need. If supplies run low, we will direct you to dental care providers available for emergency and urgent care services, that we can’t provide.
* PLEASE AVOID GOING to a hospital dental department at this time.
Your oral care is our number one priority and if you or your family member has a dental emergency, we are here for you.
We wish everyone strength during this difficult time.
G-d Bless & Please keep safe.
Warmest Regards,
